About

Hello! I'm SegFaultedDreams/SFDDev. I'm a software engineer by trade and a hobbyist game dev who's based out of the United States. Here, I'll be sharing updates on myself and my latest projects, mostly in the form of blog posts and devlogs.

My particular areas of interest include low-level programming, reverse engineering, emulation, and homebrew game development (in no particular order). I do most of my dev'ing in C(99) when I can, although I do enjoy using other languages every now and again too.

Game development is a true passion of mine. If money were no object, it's how I'd spend my days. As someone with a weird and varied set of interests, I really enjoy getting to do every aspect of it by myself (3D modelling, music, writing, programming, etc.). I'm certainly not the best at any of these areas, however, in an era where AI generated "art" is both effortless and plentiful, I've found it incredibly fulfilling to embrace my own shortcomings and flaws while making art that is 100% authentically "me", for better and for worse.

Outside of dev'ing, I'm also into video games. I'm not the most online individual, so I'm a bit behind the times. Nonetheless, I do enjoy trying out a wide variety of old and new titles. I even have a small collection of old consoles, enabling me to occasionally play said games on real hardware. My favorite genre of games tends to be role-playing games. Favorite titles would include The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Fallout: New Vegas.

Other hobbies/interests: watching video essays, retro tech, typewriters, music, movies, and photography.

The design philosophy of this website is heavily influenced by NOCASH's website, Web 1.0, and motherfuckingwebsite, with a strong emphasis placed on minimalism and utility over form. Admittedly, a significant part of its "charm" for me personally is just nostalgia, having grown up making tons of simple, static, "pre-HTML5" websites just like this during my childhood.

That being said, I will still try to make this website usable on a variety of different displays nonetheless, as is expected in this day and age.
